Agapanthus ‘Northern Star' is a particularly striking cultivar, bearing large impressive blue-purple, bell-shaped flowers in spherical clusters above mid-green leaves with blue-black colouring towards the leaf base. For best results grow in a sheltered, sunny spot, in moist but well-drained soil. In exposed areas Agapanthus 'Northern Star' benefits from winter protection. Alternatively, grow it in pots and move indoors in autumn.
